I Wonder Why Mum is so Thoroughly Glum

I wonder why Mum is so thoroughly glum,
I can't understand it at all,
unless it's the male that did not bring her mail,
or her favourite blouse, pinned to wall.

Perhaps it's the stain on her favourite sofa,
or the cheese that melted in her purse,
or  the handful of gum that she found with her hand,
or the bed room door ,sealed tightly with cement.


It can't be the bread crumbled up in her shoes,
or the shell someone put on her bed,
I wonder why Mum is so thoroughly glum,
I can't understand it at all.

or the living room TV broke by a mailbox,
