I can't understand it at all,
unless it's the male that did not bring her mail,
or her favourite blouse, pinned to the wall.
Perhaps it's the stain on her favourite sofa,
or the cheese that melted in her purse,
or the handful of gum that she found with her hand,
or the bedroom door,sealed tightly with cement.
It can't be the plum floating in her rum,
or the torn shawl that she bought from the mall,
I wonder why Mum is so thoroughly glum,
I can't understand it at all.
